Model Railroaders Visit OCHS
On Saturday, December 27 and Sunday December 28, 2008, OCHS was pleased to host the 2008 Train Show. We were pleased to welcome the Ocean County Society of Model Railroaders as this great show returned to the Birdsall Room of the Museum.
More than 600 visitors from all parts of New Jersey, and other states, visited and enjoyed our Train Show. The Model Railroaders had large layouts set up to show many different kinds of model trains, buildings, and other equipment. Thomas the Tank Engine even made an appearance! The Museum was filled with the smell of train smoke that many of us remember from our childhood Lionel trains. It was also filled with children, as well as many adults, who yelled with excitement at the sight of the wonderful layouts and displays.
After seeing the train display most of the visitors also enjoyed a tour of our Museum. Docents were busy both days guiding visitors through the beautiful Pierson-Sculthorp house.
Thanks to the Model Railroaders for their great show. We look forward to another great time next year!
