Donate Items to the Society’s Collections
The Ocean County Historical Society accepts donations of items pertaining to Ocean County before 1950. The Society restricts the scope of its collections to objects having local significance. If you would like to donate an historical item, please call 732-341-1880 to make an appointment with one of our acquisition staff volunteers.
The Society’s collections determine the contents of our temporary exhibits and what furnishings are displayed permanently in the rooms of the Elizabeth Sculthorp House. The collections include thousands of artifacts including personal items, textiles, clothing, furniture, decorative arts, fine arts, tools and equipment, as well as archaeological, cultural, and natural history remnants. The Board of Trustees ensures that all items have a demonstrable connection with Ocean County.

Donate to the COVID-19 Archives
Museums, historical societies, and other public history organizations around the globe are starting COVID-19 archives to document this incredibly difficult time in world history. We intend to do so, as well. We have not started yet, for a number of reasons. Logistically, our all-volunteer staff is currently out of the building. We also want to allow people time to develop some perspective on these rapidly unfolding events. We thought, though, that we would let you know that we will be collecting materials in the future in case you want to begin to prepare. Perhaps you want to save the emails, letters, or cards you are sending and receiving during this time, take photos, or start a journal. Perhaps you are a teacher and want to task your class with an assignment to donate. We will be open to different types of donations. More information will be forthcoming. In the meantime, contact Trustee Melissa Ziobro for more information. mziobro@monmouth.edu. Please stay safe! We look forward to seeing you soon.
